We chose to spend New Year's Eve in Cambodia's capital, Phnom Penh, on our Southeast Asia tour around the holidays. We were rushed out by tuk-tuk drivers as soon as we left the airport. We quickly created a list of the attractions we intended to see during our brief visit as soon as we settled in our accommodation at Vacation Boutique hotel. Our hotel was less than 5 minutes away from the market. Because after a hearty lunch we weren't that hungry, we chose to skip dinner and just go for something light before going over to the Mekong valley NYE festival where all the locals gathered for the NYE festival. We couldn't celebrate empty handed so we chose to get some beverages at a supermarket. Although we didn't arrive early, a lot of individuals were already gathered in the park. Most individuals were having a picnic with friends and relatives on the grass and unlike our past European NYE celebrations, the climate here was not that cold. The firework show began from across the river around midnight. It wasn't that large of a festival for us, but as it was our first trip outside Europe, so it was unique. After spending a few more minutes around the park, we went back to our hotel.
